USS-LS
Ultimate
Surround Sound Light Show
So,
you have the speakerZ, you have the 4000+ MP3 collection, and you have
a kick arse computer, what is missing you say... I say, LightZ! Click
here to learn how to make your own ultimate visualization for only $20!
Worth taking a look at for sure.
These
lights are sound sensitive! They move bright to dim to off with
the music. A great special effect, when just a computer visualization.
will not do justice to the music! Here are pics that show what you
can get out of this. (NOTE: The price for one light is ~$20, but
to have three, look at paying $25 more)
This
is a quite easy project really. Only need two things, found at two
different stores.
1.
AC to DC Portable Power Supply Cat# 22-501 from Radio Shack
~$12.00
![]() ![]() 2.
Studio54 neon light, red, blue, and purple lights from Wal-Mart
$9.97 each (look in the car audio section)
Once
you get the both of them, it is pretty much basic knowledge on how to
hook it up.
Plug
the light into the ac adapter, plug it into the wall, and your done. It
comes with sticky Velcro to attach it like I have to use your walls to
bounce the light off of and you can set the sound level with two option.
One is the switch from sound sensitive or on all the time. Then
there is a knob to set the sensitivity.
if
you want more, you need to buy a 3 way splitter or 2 way splitter (3 lights
and two lights) for cigarette lighters and then add on or two more lights.
This will add 20 bucks for the lights and anywhere from 5-14 bucks
for the splitter.
![]() If
you want to mount these on the side or upside down like I did, you will
need to get industrial strength Velcro. The Velcro that comes with
these lights sticks via a tape pad, the pad will actually start to melt
and down go your lights! This adds about $4.00 to the project, but
it is worth it! I also have added a wireless black light and moved
the blue one. Will hopefully post updated pictures later this week.
I
apologize for the terrible photo quality. I am still trying to get
my hands on my nice digital camera, lost in the move...
