A Quick Note Before We Start
Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. Myself or anyone related to Mr PC Pro's website is not responsible for any damages that might occur due to your actions. This is only a basic How-To Guide to offer some help and hopefully answer a few common questions. This mod should not void the warranty, if followed correctly, but to be sure, contact the manufacture of your speakers. I am still waiting to hear from Klipsch, and soon as I find out I will update this.

Let's Get Started

Getting Cables Ready
First figure out how long the cables should be. There's two way's to go about this. One is to make all 4 cables the same length. Some people feel that doing it this way, the signal strength is equal to all 4 speakers. But because the distance in this case is on the short side and the cable gauge we are using is well over what we really need, that theory will not apply here. Also you can end up with a mass of wires behind your desk. The second way is to make the cable length based on speaker location, ending up with two equal length short cables for the front speakers and two equal length long cables for the rear speakers. I opted for the second way and that's what this guide is based on.
Generally, with a 4 speaker system, the rear speaker cables are longer. Locate and mark the approximate location of where you plan on placing your speakers and your subwoofer. For the front speakers, which are usually located on the rear part of your desk, measure from the top of the desk to the floor, measure from that point on the floor, over to where your subwoofer is. NOTE: If your subwoofer is positioned to either side of the desk, take the floor measurement using the speaker that is positioned the farthest from it. Add the two measurements together, add an extra 12 inches to that, for "padding".

What's "Padding"?
This relates to an old saying that I heard when I was in the carpenter business. "MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE". If it's too long you can always cut some off, if it's too short then it's no good and now you have less cable to work with. Also, if you make a mistake when soldering or have to resolder and have to cut a little off to start over, that "Padding" is there to prevent ending up with a cable that is too short.
How did I come up with 12 inches?
It's just an amount I'm comfortable with, you can add whatever you feel like. If you feel pretty confident with yourself you don't have to add any extra.
example:
Desktop to floor = 26 inches.
Floor to subwoofer = 50 inches.
"Padding" = 12 inches.
Total = 88 inches.
Measure and cut two lengths of cable at the measurement you ended up with. These are your cables for the front speakers.
For the rear speakers, you just have to take one more measurement and add it to the length of what you came up with for the front speakers.
The measurement you need to add is, the distance from the back of the desktop out to where your rear speakers will be placed.
example:
Desktop to floor = 26 inches.
Floor to subwoofer = 50 inches.
"Padding" = 12 inches.
Back of desktop to rear speaker placement = 80 inches.
Total = 168 inches.
Again, measure and cut two lengths of cable at the measurement you ended up with. These are your cables for the rear speakers.
